I've been working through my interval runs and just hit Week 4 of my Couch to 5K. I swear I'm doing other forms of exercise too, but I'm prioritizing the running program. I've realized that my stamina is lacking, to put it nicely.
I jogged the track while one son had track practice. My younger son Shane decided it would be fun to run with Mommy. He lasted about two minutes of my 'wogging' and chided me for running too slow. Then he took off.
This morning, I couldn't turn down the gorgeous California sunshine. I also couldn't say no to my elderly black labrador Sadie, who isn't in the best shape these days. I figured I'd take her out while I warmed up, let her run one interval with me, then drop her off to complete my run. We made it to the park and jogged our first three minutes. Then the stray dog, an adorable Benji, crossed our path. Had to pause the run, chase down the dog, then drop Sadie off so she could sleep off all the excitement.
The good news is the owner found her dog, I ran my first 5 MINUTE interval today (huge for me!) and finished my run.
And now this....I think I'm signing up for this local 5K. It's the weekend before my Mud Run, but thought it would be a good warm up.
